As Halloween draws closer more and more folks will be making weekend outings to haunted houses throughout Middle TN. I’ll lucky enough to spend this weekend at the Nashville Nightmare haunted attraction in Madison, which was voted this year’s number 1 haunted attraction in the country by USA Today!!! This will be my fourth year hanging out with the ghouls and monsters there, promoting my horror fiction, in front of an enormous crowd. Week after week, thousands line up out into the parking lot well past the midnight hour for their turn at experiencing the top haunted attractions in the country. Experiencing being the key word. Guests will be able to brave the hellscapes of four unique attractions: Night Terrors, Horror High, Industrial Undead, and Fairy Tale Hell. I’m most excited to see the innards of Fairy Tale Hell which, along with Industrial Undead, is brand new for the 2016 season!
From the parking lot to the ticket line and through the exit, Nashville Nightmare is a completely immersive experience in which the monsters rule their environment. Zombies, clowns, chainsaws and amazing stilt-walking creatures of the night cause constant outbursts of shrieks from terrified patrons, most high-stepping in their attempt to flee; some fleeing straight for their car. Following each scream, without fail, came a big round of laughter from the crowd, cast and crew. It’s a fun-loving atmosphere which is a great testament to the dedication of the men and women who have made Nashville Nightmare what it is today.
In this day and age there aren’t many surviving relics of Americana, like the carnival spook-houses and sideshows of our not-so-distant past, but the restless soul of old-fashioned showmanship is alive and well in the modern Haunted Attraction. Like their spookshow predecessors Nashville Nightmare guarantee’s a fun night of entertainment to be had by all, many getting their money’s worth in fright before even entering the building.
It is a Halloween lover’s paradise and the monsters of Nashville Nightmare will be celebrating the season to it’s fullest, every Friday thru Sunday (plus Halloween Monday) this month. So come one, come all and step right up…if you’re brave enough that is.
